1991-1996: study of Chemistry at the University of Rostock

 

March 1996: Diploma work (Investigations of terpenoid bicyclic systems) under the supervision of Professor Dr. Klaus Peseke

 

1996-1999: PhD work (Investigations of reactions of annelated carbarsugar derivatives) under the supervision of Professor Dr. Klaus Peseke

 

June 1999: Promotion to Dr. rer. nat. (Organic Chemistry)

 

1999-2000: Postdoctoral work at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich / Switzerland (ETH) in the group of Professor Dr. Andrea T. Vasella (synthesis of sugar nitrone derivatives)

 

2001-2007: Habilitation work at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald – Structural characterisation of novel natural products and biochemical investigations of mechanisms of action of these compounds and derivatives as antimicrobial agents

 

December 2007: Habilitation in Bioorganic Chemistry (within the group of Professor Dr. Ulrike Lindequist)

 

March 2008: Promotion to "Privatdozent"
